Welcome to the Foods (2nd semester)!
Grade 6 - students have spent time to learn about the importance of safety and sanitation in the kitchen space. They have spent time in kitchen groups organizing equipment and learning how to properly clean it and the workspaces they use. Students have done an excellent job so far demonstrating team work and cooperation.
Students are currently working on an in-class assignment intended to familiarize them with the updated Canada's Food Guide. This assignment will help them develop a better understanding of healthy eating and how to make good food choices.
Their first recipe was completed this week as they made a simple recipe for Maple Pancakes.
Grade 7 - students have spent time to learning and reviewing the importance of safety and sanitation in the kitchen space. They have spent time in kitchen groups determining what equipment should be in each kitchen and organizing it to make for a more efficient workspace. Students have been placed into kitchen groups where the focus is always on cooperation and working together to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Students are currently working on an in-class assignment intended to familiarize them with the updated Canada's Food Guide. This assignment will help them develop a better understanding of healthy eating and how to make good food choices. Students will eventually move on to choosing projects of their choice related to food and the food industry.
Students have completed two recipes so far, one for brownies and another for pumpkin pancakes.
